MAY 16, 2023 - Yesterday, on May 15 at 7 pm, Durham City Manager Wanda Page presented her proposed budget to the City Council for FY23-24 (Fiscal Year 2023-2024). The full proposed budget can be viewed on the City of Durham's Budget and Management Services Department page.
Some highlights of the proposed FY23-24 budget include:
- Continuation of fare-free transit through June 2024
- Expansion of GoDurham routes in North Durham
- Fleet modernization that would retire and replace the oldest diesel-powered vehicles with Zero-Emissions buses
The proposed budget details will be reviewed by City Council and City Staff at special work sessions on May 24 and 25. These in-person work sessions will begin at 9 a.m. in City Hall’s Committee Room and will be livestreamed to the City’s YouTube channel. The proposed budget will go to the City Council for approval on June 20 2023.
The public can share their thoughts at an upcoming public hearing on Monday, June 5 at 7 pm or at the upcoming GoDurham Public Meeting on Wednesday, June 7 at 5 pm at Durham Station.
