New Service Changes coming Spring 2025!
The 2023 Durham Transit Plan asked Durham residents what service improvements they thought were the most important. Based on your feedback, GoDurham is implementing:
- More frequent service:
- Increasing frequency on high demand routes and to major destinations like Glenn View Station Walmart and the Village.
- More routes going more places:
- New route connecting from The Village to NCCU and Durham Tech—without having to transfer downtown.
- Faster, more reliable service:
- Adjusting routes to be more direct and removing stops that are too close together with low ridership, so the bus won’t have to stop as frequently.
This spring, GoDurham will implement service improvements identified in the Durham County Transit Plan for Routes 3, 3B, 5, 8, 12, and a new Route 13.
- Buses on Route 3 will run every 15 minutes to the Glenn View Station Walmart and will have better than 15-minute service between Durham Station and The Village.
- Route 3B will be renamed to Route 16 and will run every 30-minutes instead of every 60-minutes as it does today.
- Route 5 will be rerouted to serve Jordan High School, Hope Valley Commons, and NC54.
- Route 8 will be rerouted to serve Riddle Rd and Cornwallis Rd.
- Route 12 will be rerouted to serve NC 55 between Riddle Rd and Cornwallis Rd. Route 12 and 12B will no longer serve NC 54. For service along NC 54 to South Point Mall or the RTC, GoTriangle Route 800 will serve NC 54.
- A NEW Route 13 will replace the current Route 3C and connect The Village to NCCU and Durham Tech.
These changes will increase access across Durham.

August 24, 2024, Service Change
Effective Saturday, August 24, 2024, GoDurham will implement a service change in North Durham to expand service on Routes 1, 4, 6, and 9. This will improve service by reducing wait times, increasing frequency, and providing a new connection in North Durham to Duke /VA Medical Centers.
Route 1 – Is being re-aligned to serve Riverside High School on weekdays until 7pm.
Route 4 – Extend Route 4 north to Milton Road to serve JFK Towers, the old Northern High School, the current Northern High School, Latta Rd, and the Northern Regional Library every 30 minutes at all times.
Route 6 – Extend along Hillandale Rd. to create a new connection in North Durham to Duke/VA Medical Centers. This will allow a direct ride from Duke Regional Hospital and Danube Ln/Hebron Rd to Duke/VA without having to ride downtown. Route 6 will always run every 30 minutes.
Route 9 – Will be simplified to run every 30 minutes along Dearborn Dr. to Duke Regional Hospital. Service previously provided on Routes 9A and 9B north of Duke Regional Hospital will be provided by routes 1, 4, and 6.
Transfers between routes 4, 6 and 9 will be facilitated at Duke Regional Hospital.
