What is GoDurham Connect?

GoDurham Connect is how Durhamites are getting around! Offered by the City of Durham, it's a flexible ride service that helps people in Durham get to where they need to go, even in areas without bus service. Request a same-day ride in a van or shuttle within the North or East Durham Zones.

Riding with GoDurham Connect: What to Know

GoDurham Connect is designed to make getting around your community easy and convenient. Please keep the following in mind when booking and taking your rides:

Service Hours

Ride Limits & Booking

  • You can take up to 60 free rides each month.
  • Trips can be book to and from any location within the same service zone.

Traveling with Children

  • Children ages 12 and up can ride without an adult.
  • Children ages 12 and under must ride with an adult.

Cancellations & No-Shows

  • 5 or more cancellations or no-shows in one month may result in penalties such as a temporary account suspension.

Option 1: Schedule a Ride Using the GoDurham ACCESS App

Step 1. Download the GoDurham ACCESS app or use the web portal.

Step 2: Select your pickup point within one of the GoDurham Connect zones.

Step 3: Set your drop-off location within the same zone.

Step 4: Adjust your rider settings, choose your pickup time, and track your ride in the app.

Step 1. Call a GoDurham ACCESS reservations agent at (919) 560-1551 to schedule your trip.

Reservation hours: Monday–Sunday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

 


Frequently Asked Questions

What is GoDurham Connect?

The GoDurham Connect program is an on-demand microtransit service offering flexible, convenient transportation in areas of Durham underserved by fixed-route buses. Using shuttles or vans, it provides same-day, door-to-door rides within two service zones: North Durham and East Durham.

Riders can request trips to and from any location within the designated service zones without needing to use a public bus stop; however, select bus stops are designated as GoDurham Connect Transfer Points, where riders arriving by a fixed-route bus can easily enter the service zones and be conveniently picked up by a GoDurham Connect vehicle right at the stop. 

Who is eligible to use GoDurham Connect?

Anyone is eligible to use GoDurham Connect as long as your trip begins and ends within either service zone. 

Children ages 12 years and older are welcome to ride without an adult, while children under 12 years old must ride with an adult.

What are the hours of operation for GoDurham Connect?

GoDurham Connect operates Monday-Sunday, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Please note that GoDurham's holiday service schedule applies. You can view the holiday hours here.

Can I use GoDurham Connect if I’m a GoDurham ACCESS (ADA Paratransit) rider?

Yes. If you're eligible for GoDurham ACCESS, you can also use GoDurham Connect to travel within a service zone, as long as your trip begins and ends in the same zone.

Do I need to pay for the ride?

No. The service is fare-free through June 30, 2026, with riders allowed up to 60 free trips per month. Fare-free service may be extended by elected officials.

 

Can I schedule multiple trips in advance?

Yes. You can schedule trips up to 3 days in advance.

Is there a maximum number of people that I can book a trip for?

You can book a trip for up to 3 passengers using the app or online. For groups of more than three, please call (919) 560-1551.

Do I need to bring a car seat for my child?

Yes. Riders must comply with North Carolina Child Passenger Safety laws. Please bring the appropriate car seat or booster seat for your child. Learn more at BuckleUpNC.org.

Where will I be picked up?

GoDurham Connect offers curb-to-curb service. You’ll be picked up on the curb or sidewalk in front of the address you provide. You do not need to go to a bus stop or gathering spot. 

How do I connect with GoDurham buses?

  • North Durham Zone: Connects to GoDurham Routes 1, 4, and 6, with service every 30 minutes, providing convenient access to destinations north of Horton and Hebron Roads. You can select a bus stop in the app as your destination.

  • East Durham Zone: Centered around the Wellons Village Transit Hub, with access to Routes 3, 3B, and 3C, running every 15 minutes.You can select a bus stop in the app as your destination.

Can I provide feedback on my trip?

Yes. At the conclusion of your trip, the smartphone App will prompt you to rate your trip. All feedback is reviewed to ensure the microtransit service meets rider expectations.
